1976 Profile: Don Croft

"Croft appeared in 13 games in 1975 after a slow recovery from knee surgery. He was credited with two fumble recoveries, one against St. Louis and one in the second game against New England. Croft saw action in just six games in 1974 after he suffered an injury in training camp in 1973 and missed the entire season.
Don was a starter at defensive tackle in 1972 after joining the team on waivers from Baltimore. He enjoyed an outstanding year in '72 and could move into the starting picture again in '76. Don was a fifth round pick of the Colts in 1972.
A three-year starter at defensive tackle for Texas-El Paso, Croft was All-Western Athletic Conference and an honorable mention All-America choice as a senior. He won postseason invitations to the North-South Shrine Game and the Coaches All-America contest. Don received the Texas-El Paso 'Gold Helmet' award for his play against Texas at Arlington in 1971.
Don was awarded a degree in general business. Horse racing is his favorite form of entertainment, and hunting and fishing are his hobbies. He plays the guitar."
