"The current holder of all the Bills career placekicking records, including field goals (76) and PAT's (144), Leypoldt is tied with O.J. Simpson for career scoring (366 points). He set the Bills mark for PAT's in one season with 51 in 1975, led the Bills in scoring in 1972, 1973 and 1974, and earned UPI All-AFC second team honors in '73. John tied the Buffalo record with a 52-yard field goal against Baltimore in 1973.
John joined the Bills as a free agent and has no college football experience. He played on a semi-pro level with Annapolis (later Virginia) Sailors in 1965-66. He was a kicker for his service football team during two years of Army duty in Germany.
Leypoldt was working for Washington Gas Light Company at the time he won a Bills tryout. An avid and skilled pool player, he started his own pool hall business (Cue and Chalk) last winter."
