1976 Profile: Doug Jones

Safety
No. 24
San Fernando Valley State
"Jones missed the entire 1975 season with a knee injury suffered in a preseason game against Atlanta in Tampa. Acquired by Buffalo in a trade with Kansas City, he started one preseason game with the Bills before the injury.
Doug was a backup safety for the Chiefs, playing behind Jim Kearney, and appeared in 14 games with the Chiefs in 1974, mostly on special teams. He was only four rookies to make the Kansas City squad in 1973, when he was a sixth round draft choice. Doug had one interception for 13 yards in Kansas City.
Jones was a two-year starter at San Fernando Valley State at both cornerback and safety and played two years at San Diego City College. He was a championship hurdler in college.
He remains interested in track and worked as an assistant track coach last winter. Doug spent the off-season in California after rehabilitating his knee here last fall."
